Temporary Closings

Chanterelle Will Close to Build Bar and Will Possibly Introduce Bar Menu

Earlier this week, we heard from a source that Chanterelle was closing for two weeks in late August and reopening with a bar serving small plates. We asked the restaurant’s reps for comment and they gave us this statement: “In preparation for its 30th anniversary this fall, Karen and David Waltuck will be closing Chanterelle on Monday, August 17 to refresh the restaurant, including the addition of an intimate bar and an expanded menu. The last day for general reservations is Friday, August 14 and Chanterelle will host a Sunday Salon celebrating blues, beer and smoked foods on Sunday, August 16.” Perhaps David Waltuck saw the power of the cocktail over at Macao? No official word as to whether the expanded food program will include a bar menu, but, given the recent addition of à la carte options, it’s safe to assume the temple of fine dining is continuing to loosen up. Also: The Feedbag has the official word on a rumor Eater heard earlier this week, that Café Boulud plans to close for a refresh. Expect a new bar and two private dining rooms when it reopens in late September.
