Dumpling Festival: Best Thing to Happen to the LES Since Pickle Festival

Not that we didn’t have fun on our dumpling tour with Ming Tsai, but this sounds like a dream come true. The NYC Dumpling Festival will take place Saturday, October 24 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Sara D. Roosevelt Park (the traffic island that’s enclosed by East Houston and Canal, and Forsyth and Chrystie). There’s a competitive-eating contest (last year’s winner downed 66 dumplings), but more exciting is the last line of the press release: “Guests and attendees will also be able to taste and experience dumplings from around the world with offerings such as gnocchi (Italy), tamale (Mexico), palitaw (Philippines), kuih koci (Malaysia), idli (India), bao (China), and pierogi (Poland).” Awesome! But no love for the dumplavoli?
