On Monday, the Times’ restaurant blog, Diner’s Journal, announced that it was absorbing Mark Bittman’s cooking and food blog, Bitten, along with Eric Asimov’s wine blog, the Pour, as part of a restructuring that will broaden its focus. Now Grub Street hears that Bittman will be penning a monthly column for Cooking Light magazine, starting with the issue that hits newsstands April 16. The name of the column, “Less Meat, More Flavor,” should give you an idea of what it’s about. Bittman is famously a “VB6 — Vegan Before 6”. First up: A recipe for Meatless Sloppy Joes. Rest assured this won’t affect the Minimalist’s writing for Diner’s Journal — a post on sustainable seafood went up today. Oh, and if all of this isn’t enough Bittman for you, you can bid on a chance to have him prepare a meal for five of your friends, in your apartment.
