Just Because You Say You Have a Black Label Burger Doesn’t Make It So

Either Chin Chin co-owner Wally Chin or his chef Chris Cheung apparently told Feast that when Walle, their “New-American restaurant with Chinese influence” opens in midtown in mid-May, there’ll be a “Walle Burger (on Shanghai Pancake Bun, using Pat Lafreida [sic] Black Label Beef).” Oh no there won’t, says La Frieda’s Mark Pastore, who reminds Feast that only Minetta Tavern can serve the Black Label blend, and besides — he’s never heard of these people! Lesson here: If you’re going to brag about your sourcing, wait till you’ve actually sourced it.
