While Pulino’s has sold 27,000 pies, its neighbor Café Colonial has served its last café con leche. An employee there tells us that yesterday was the fifteen-year-old Brazilian hangout’s final day of service. Though its lease wasn’t due to expire until the end of the month, it seems owner Luciane Gilan has packed up early; we’ll let you know about her future plans once we hear from her. A couple of months ago, she told us she was “really struggling” and couldn’t afford a rent hike she believed came partly because of her trendy new neighbor, Keith McNally. One thing’s for sure: This corner is a pretty sweet spot for a cupcake shop.
