After Mayor Bloomberg issued an ultimatum demanding that negotiations with Dean Poll and the union representing Tavern on the Green employees be resolved by 5 p.m., the Central Park Boathouse owner has pulled out of the project, saying that a deal was “impossible to achieve.” Diner’s Journal reports that Donald Trump and the Ciprianis are still interested, but it’ll take the city several months to decide on an operator, and on whether it will even partly or fully reopen as a restaurant at all. In the meantime, Bloomberg has decided to use the space as a snack bar, visitor center, and gift shop “similar to the successful Central Park Dairy.”
