After months of speculation about the reincarnation of Gourmet in iPad app form, Gourmet Live is at last ready for download from the iTunes store. This continuation of the zombification of the Gourmet brand mines the magazine’s archives for recipes, kitchen tips, and related content, but there’s also (as promised) new content — a helpful value-add considering that virtually all of Gourmet’s recipes live on at Epicurious. Among the otherwise moderately predictable content, the one element of Gourmet Live that we find particularly intriguing is the built-in “rewards” system: pages and recipes that you can only access after viewing certain other pages, Easter-egg-style. Check out the app trailer — complete with an acoustic-guitar soundtrack simultaneously jaunty and soothing.
