Nate Smith has left buzzy Prospect Heights newcomer Dean Street after just a month of helming the kitchen, according to a tweet. “We parted ways today,” owner John Longo tells us. He was going into service so didn’t have time for further comment, but he and co-owner Rob Gelardi write in a Facebook update: “Nate did a great job of getting us started and his food was superb. We wish him the best of luck.” It’s a surprising move given that Smith’s experience at the Spotted Pig won the new incarnation of the Tavern on Dean space a good deal of attention — but maybe they can just write him off as a consulting chef.
