Czech It Out: Bohemian National Hall Will Get Upscale Restaurant

In 2008, the Upper East Side’s Bohemian National Hall reopened after a five-year, $45 million renovation, and it has hosted its share of swank parties and cultural events since. Now a Czech restaurant will open on the first floor, according to a Craigslist ad. When the five-story Renaissance Revival building originally opened in 1895, it housed a ground-floor restaurant as well as a basement bowling alley and shooting gallery. They eventually closed, and in November of 2009, according to a renovation overview on the museum’s site, the design of a new restaurant began, with an expected opening date of late 2010 (the basement kitchen has already been installed). The Craigslist ad indicates the restaurant will open “in a few weeks,” and it’s said to be “upscale” — servers are asked to have two years of fine-dining experience. We’re still waiting on more details, but in the meantime, prepare yourself for the dawn of “upscale Bohemian”!
