While Rhong Tiam makes moves on the Lower East Side, the team behind Dempsey’s and Sláinte is taking over the infamous Kurve/Rhong Tiam space in the East Village. The corner spot on Second Avenue and 5th Street won’t become an Irish pub, but rather a craft-beer-focused bar-restaurant with 25 rotating taps and higher-end fare. “The food will be in the American comfort-food mode with some twisted-up Irish dishes mixed in for good measure,” owner Tom O’Byrne tells us. The place is slated to open for lunch, dinner, and a weekend brunch at the beginning of July.
