Who Will Open Lower Manhattan’s Next 100-Seat Outdoor Eatery?

If you’re considering becoming a vendor at the DeKalb Market, here’s another outdoorsy opportunity: The kiosks at Centre and Duane Streets (a.k.a. Municipal Plaza) that most recently held the Plaza Food Court (comprised of the pizza and pasta concept Sauced and the burger and sandwich joint Lucky Buns) are looking for new occupants. Whoever snags the contract on March 15 will get the 100 outdoor seats on the pedestrian plaza you see here. Back in 2009, there was a rumor that Danny Meyer was interested in this property (it ended up going to the guys behind the Volstead and PS 450), and Eater recently heard that Fatty Crab, Artichoke, Billy’s Bakery, and some Red Hook vendors have also shown interest, but if this Craigslist ad is any indicator, it’s still wide open.
