Colicchio Gets Into the Beer-Garden Game

With Spritzenhaus’ recent opening, Eataly’s La Birreria slated to debut in a couple of weeks — not to mention a number of other recent or upcoming projects — the beer-garden trend don’t stop. And now even Tom Colicchio is joining the fray: Diner’s Journal reports the Bald One will open the Lot on Tap, an outdoor taproom with 350 seats, located at 30th Street under the soon-to-be-unveiled northerly stretch of the High Line. When it debuts hopefully in early June, the bar will butt up against a collection of food trucks (of course) curated by Colicchio himself, including Red Hook Lobster Pound, CoolHaus, Taim Mobile, and Kelvin Natural Slush Company. Among the pours, you’ll find Brooklyn High Line Elevated Wheat, a beer made especially for the Lot on Tap. So, with the Standard Biergarten at one end of the High Line and this place at the other, your drinking and strolling options just improved tremendously. Beer crawl, anyone? [Diner’s Journal/NYT]
