Things are moving forward with the city’s plans to find a new operator for Tavern on the Green. The matter came before Community Board 8 last night, writes DNA Info, and Parks Department officials told those in attendance they’d soon start seeking “high quality casual restaurant and outdoor café.” Note the word casual (something some at the meeting objected to); this doesn’t sound poised to be the celebrity hang Tavern once was. The plan is instead to have somewhere “a family at going to a playground can stop in for a sandwich.” A call for operators should go out soon and applications will likely be due by next month or early next year.
