There is a proposal for a new system in which poultry would get inspected by its own breeders rather than a USDA official. This will save time and money, as inner-workers can expedite kill line flow, examining three chickens per second (as is, the USDA inspectors look at one chicken per 1.7 seconds). But at that pace, there is a lot of room for error, not to mention indifference.
