Chuko Boys Planning Sandwich Shop; Franklin Becker Leaves EMM Group

Brooklyn Paper hears the boys behind Chuko are opening a sandwich shop. We got co-owner Jamison Blankenship on the horn, who said nothing’s set at the moment, but confirmed they are looking at spaces in Prospect Heights. The market-driven menu would feature three to five sandwiches daily. “I’m sure you’ll find an Asian ingredient here or there but we’re not to going to limit it to that,” Blankenship told us. Millesime recently reopened its new entrance on 29th Street and will now be offering guests a fresh summer lunch menu, which is available Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. [Grub Street]

Desi Galli, a new eatery focusing on popular Indian street food, has opened in Curry Hill in the space that used to be Old Delhi. The spot features a menu of customizable sandwiches and casual snacks that stick to the flavors of traditional Indian cuisine, all for under ten bucks. [Grub Street]

• Also newsworthy on the Indian-food news circuit, the MasalaWala has added a few seasonal additions to its menu, including special summer entrees as well as a few desserts. We’re looking forward to trying the Mango Dal, lentils cooked with the fruit. [Grub Street]

• For the outdoor diner, Clinton Hill’s Cochinita has opened its outside patio just in time for summer. And to top off this exciting news, the taqueria is now serving three variations of beer (local, Mexican, and gluten-free), which will change monthly. [Grub Street]

• Next Thursday, Corkbuzz Wine Studio will host a cocktail-style blind tasting party, where wine novices and aficionados alike can meet, mingle, and compare notes while sampling a dozen different wines. No experience is necessary, and Corkbuzz will provide tasting grids, snacks, and advice on tasting. Tickets are $45 per person and can be purchased online, or by calling 646-873-6071. [Grub Street]

• Corporate executive chef of the EMM Group (which includes Abe and Arthur’s, Catch, and Lexington Brass), Franklin Becker, has resigned from his position over the weekend. In response to the report, Chef Becker responded, “We are going off into two separate directions and I wish them luck.” [Zagat Buzz]
